CORNWALL SCOUT NETWORK

Cornwall Scout Network is the section for all 18 - 25 year oldswithin the Scout Association, and it is the last chance for members to really do something for themselves. Cornwall Scout Network is flexible, and once you become a member, you are automatically a member of any Scout Network across the UK!

Cornwall Scout Network is designed to fit in around it's members. If you are already involved in Scouting as a Leader or Fellowship member then you can still be an active member of Cornwall Scout Network. If your time only allows you to particpate once a month, then that's fine. Likewise, if you go away to University, through your Local Network you can get in touch with your nearest Network and carry on Networking!

What can you do? Put simply, you can do (just about) anything you want! Network Scouts are involved in activities such as camping, rock climbing, water sports, International Projects and working in the local community. And that's just a start! There are terrific Awards available to achieve, The Queens Scout Award and The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme to name a few.

What if something doesn't take your fancy? Just come up with an idea and slot it in to the programme, it really is that easy! Cornwall Scout Network is going to be big! We're laying the foundations to supprt all Local Scout Networks, so if your interested in being part of something worthwhile, exciting and full of laughs... get in touch!

Scout Network Support Days 07/08

Neil Slade & Pete Tamblin (CSNC's Cornwall/Avon) supporting development workshops at the recent Support Days in Taunton, Somerset.

The Scout Network Support Workshops took place at the end of 2007 to build on the success of the previous 12 months. The 2007 Census showed that the Scout Network had the largest percentage growth of all the Youth sections, growing by 17.5%. These days were run to support those who already have a Scout Network and looking to develop the section still further within their Counties/Districts or to offer advice and support to those Counties that are just starting to build their Scout Networks. The days offered a chance for participants to share ideas on a range of subjects including Scout Network Programme, Structures and Development. Ultimately the aim of the day was to make sure all those involved had the support and confidence to carry on the huge growth that the Scout Network saw in 2007.

This series of sheets are designed to share all the information given out at the Workshops as well as sharing all the ideas that were put forward by those present. There are four sheets and these are:

Introduction

Objectives

During the planning of the workshops the UK Adviser for Scout Network planned the day to have 9 main objectives, which could then be split into three main categories. By the end of the day those present should have had the opportunity to:

Explore different methods of planning a Scout Network Programme.
Discover different ways of implementing the Award Scheme.
Identify programme planning as a process that is reliant on several phases to work effectively.
Discuss different ways of fulfilling their role.
Find out about different ways of working with others in the Scout Network.
Find out about the Support structures available at a Local, County and District Level.
Discuss local issues and possible solutions.
Meet others involved in the Scout Network with in their Scout Region.
Review their Scout Network Development Plans.
Those presenting then worked to a specific set of objectives according the objectives for the day. These are laid out in the relevant sheets.
