Appreciate the diverse world around us.
Respect and accept cultures other than our own.
Highlight our place within our local, national and international communities.
Promote key global issues and how our actions at local level can help.

The Skills and Development Self Development Area aims to:

Increase awareness of health and welfare related issues
Provide awareness of the importance of keeping fit
Help members become more organised
Help members accept more responsibility
Help members undertake risk assessments
Develop interpersonal skills
Provide an opportunity to take part in the Adult Training Scheme.

The Community Self Development Area aims to:

Promote understanding of our values and increase confidence in exploring beliefs
Help members play an active role in the local community and wider society
Help members learn to respect the values of others
Work in different groupings
Help members be effective in communications and interpersonal skills
Reflect upon the benefit members actions have for them and the community
The model below shows how the Self Development Areas fit into the Programme and award structure.
